Ever notice that the characters in The Jungle Book are white and have British accents, even though it takes place in India? It is no coincidence that India was one of the sites of European imperialism, and that the book was written in 1894 by Kipling, the "prophet" of  imperialism.

The novel shows the steps Europeans took in colonizing Africa, and the effects it had on the natives. In the second half of the book, the African tribes "fell apart" with the arrival of European Christian ministers. They brought a new religion, industrialization, and oppression, eventually destroying the entire culture.
Rikki Tikki Tavi is one of the stories in Kipling's The Jungle Book. Imperialism was also present in this story through symbloism. The two cobras represented Britain coming to rule over the natives. Many of them saw the Europeans as demonic, and Rikki Tikki Tavi showed how they must fight back.
